Replacing accessory belt DIY or farm it out?

I'm getting a squeal like a pulley or the belt is loose at cold start up then it goes away after a few minutes. All the write ups about it is for the N14 motors and not the N18. The car has 55k on ticker and I'd like to know if putting a new belt on myself is worth the trouble or pay a shop to do it.

If you like tinkering with your MINI and aren't afraid of a challenge, you can save quite a bit doing it yourself. There is a belt tool you will need to buy or borrow. Try checking with local shops that are familiar with MINIs and see what they charge. You may decide it's worth it to try yourself.

I just had the serpentine belt done at the dealership, it was starting to crack at 40,000 miles. Cost 125$ on a Countryman.
