electric noise when opening rear tailgate

I swapped tailgates as I found a Hyper Blue tailgate to replace my dented tailgate.

The original tailgate never made an internal noise when opening.
The new tailgate makes an mechanical / winch type noise when opening, as if the tailgate is power assisted.

Why the difference in sounds?

yup, mine does too. The sound comes from inside the gate, it is associated with the cable stop. Wouldn't worry about it.

I am pretty sure that the contact closure on the button you press signals a motor to pull the lever to unlatch the lock.

Both of my minis have made that noise.

Yea, mine does it. Like a open... then pop and buzzzz noise. Is normal.

thanks guys.....my first tailgate never made the noise so I though it was odd the second tailgate did.

maybe the original was squeeky clean inside and rarely used thus the lack of audible noise.

next I will be swapping out painted vs chrome tailgate handles.
