Convenience entry / range to let the car sleep

I was picking up my car at the dealer today for a new battery, and while they agreed the battery's condition was not anything of my doing (apparently the computer told them) he did mention in passing that since I had convenience entry, I should make sure that my key fobs are further than 30 feet from my car at night.... in the house!! Apparently it is pretty common for keys within range to prevent a car from going to sleep, therefore prematurely discharging the battery ! Seriously? Who comes up with this stupid tech? Between that and the battery *coding*... I'm gonna drive my 69 912 tomorrow and not worry about stupid electronics 😀

I have comfort access. I always leave the key in the car which is parked in my garage for the past 7 years. I have replaced the cars battery once after 5 years or so. Never a problem.
