Troubleshooting: Driver side lock won't unlock with remote

Hey All -

Have a 2002 Standard where the driver side lock does not go up and down when I use the Remote. It only unlocks when I use the key. It will lock when I use the remote.

Would like to better understand if this is something I could tackle myself (diy ambitious but a lot of the work on the MINI is a first time) or should pay someone to fix.

Guessing it is a motor or something that has gone bad.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Check out this NAM thread here with some suggestions to check out. Another here, which sounds somewhat similar to your situation. We have a DIY that goes over the door panel removal in our Window Regulator Replacement DIY that may be useful to you to gain access to the actuator. Actuators here if needed. Good luck!

Not too time consuming of a job, we can have them done in about an hour.

You will need to be careful in doing the job as it is easy to dent the door from the inside out, as well as proper orientation of certain cables for the door to work properly.

We have a few tips for doing the job, let us know if you have any questions and we'd be glad to help.
