Correct gears and speed limits

Hello, I bought a used 2010 mini cooper s clubman yesterday. I would like to know that what are the correct gears and speed limits, such as 2nd to 3rd.
I will have more questions soon.

Thanks,

you have no idea how to drive a manual shift?????

Keep the rpm under 6000 is my
most simple suggestion

Really depends on how fast you want to get to speed and how much fuel you want to use getting there

If you get up near redline it's time to go up a gear. If you drop below 2k it's time to go down a gear. You'll get the best mileage keeping it between 2K and 3K.

Big difference between a R57 and a R55. Even for spirited driving I've never run the tach much over 5K.
Learning about the manual gear box, some guidelines. RPM, power curve and torque curve numbers are not the same thing. Here's a quick class on optimum shifting. You'll need to refer to the owners manual for the R55.

Also, some clutch rules: KEEP YOUR FOOT OFF THE CLUTCH except to shift.
At stop signs, shift to neutral and FOOT OFF THE CLUTCH.
DO NOT lug the engine, ugly engine damage can ensue.

I think it fair to say if you need to ask you should not go anywhere near the redline. The biggest newbie mistake though is lugging the engine, applying power at too low rpm. Besides poor acceleration its bad for the engine.

Thank you all!

I am sorry that I posted a question in Cabrio Talk, since I don't know too much about mini cooper's models and trim.

Over 10 years ago, I drove a manual transmission car. I remember there were 4 gears instead of 6 gears. and I HAD a clutch failure.

You provide me so much valuable experience. I will practice as your advice.

Thanks again,
BS
