Brand new as of 3 days ago!

So, I'm brand new to the Mini community. Got my first mini on Friday December 18th. Got myself a used 2003 R50, 160k miles, silver with black trim, red/black custom cloth interior, basic model. So far I'm happy with it, it was garage kept, 2 owners, and very well maintained...I have records from the day it was bought!

Only issues are a rip in the drivers seat and the drivers door doesn't lock. Both simple fixes!

I bought my Mini as a commuter/everyday vehicle. My previous everyday (and only) vehicle is a 2010 Ford F-250 that is highly customized and runs close to 700hp. While I still averaged 18-20mpg, driving 90mi round trip to work everyday was pretty expensive! Thus, a Mini!

Plus, I love customizing vehicles and making them my own and Mini's really offer that! Looking forward to everything to come!

Thanks!

Yeah, I've already got the Mothers headlight Restoration Kit, probably gonna do that sometime this week. I'm also looking into LED bulbs for the headlights, trying to find answers to that. I posted a thread asking already after doing some searching.

If you can notice at all the emblems are peeling/faded, I've already scuffed them up and painted the flat black with some leftover spray on truck-bed liner I did my truck's running boards with.

If you put LED bulbs in those factory halogen headlights, with those older non projector lights, the light will not be focused and will blind on coming traffic.

Have you seen the helix ones ( projectors with E code cutoff ) Then you can run an led aftermarket or Xenon. Stock is the H7 bulbs. Correct cutoff, Its the updated 2005+ looks ( then you dont have to refinish the light. ). Options below.

Just be careful not to run over your MINI with that 250!

I have seen those, I think I came across your exact thread there.

My questions with that, it the projector High and Low beam in that application? Or is it like some where the projector is actually just the low beam and LED/HID and when you hit high beams a standard Halogen bulb comes on?

Haha! Yeah, especially since I park them in the same garage. However, they do park on opposite sides. The truck won't fit through a standard garage door, but thankfully my grandfather got rid of his boat and it will go through the larger boat garage door. Granted, with only 2" of clearance.

Welcome to NAM! The MINI next to the truck really puts its size in perspective. Congratulations on the purchase and if you ever need anything for your R50 be sure to let me know. Enjoy!

Low beam, High beam is the regular lower light, when you hit the high beams the low beams stay on as well.

So I can put an LED bulb in both the projector and the high beam. The projector is the Low beam and helps focus the light as to not blind people. When I hit the high beam the projector stays on and the the other LED light comes on as well, but you're not worried about it being focused as much because you want all the light possible and don't have your high beams on with oncoming traffic anyway.

I think I'm getting confused because on my truck I've done a TRS (the retrofit source) Bi-xenon Projector retrofit, the projector is my low AND high beam.

I got it now?

If so, thanks!

Yes, you can put an led kit in the high beam & low beam. The low beam has the projector that focuses the light so you don't blind oncoming traffic while you DD.
