Forge BOV (is it a BOV?)

So I've read many threads and posts within the threads about the Forge DV Adapter and the Forge BOV - Now, a lot of people are saying the Forge BOV vents to atmosphere, yet a lot of websites that sell it claims it is a not a "true" BOV in that it does not vent to atmosphere at all, it just recirculates the hot air quicker and "harder"

Now if it IS true that it does NOT vent to atmosphere, why is it making such a strong & loud sounding vent noise... it sounds like it's venting to atmosphere, but then again normal BOV's do not vent for so long, they'll let the air out quickly in a very short burst of air every time boost lets off. YET the Forge "BOV" sounds like a huge boost leak happening for about 5 seconds long...

Can someone please shed some light on how this works and why it sounds the way it does?? Thank you in advance!

Here some info : N14 MINI Cooper S engine

https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2007-Cooper-R56-S-Coupe-L4_1.6L_N14B16A/Engine/Turbocharger/4

Blow Off Adapter For Turbo FMDVMCS = vent to atmosphere

From forge website : " By fitting the FMDVMCS between the existing solenoid and the turbo housing (this involves removing only 3 bolts) the air is re-directed to atmosphere rather than recirculated "

Blow Off Valve Kit
FMDVR56A = Vents to atmosphere

MINI Cooper S Upgraded Diverter Valve FM207V = Recirculates

Thanks

A "real" blow off valve would vent all of the excess air to the atmosphere, usually resulting in a very loud (annoying) psh sound. While some people like this, it normally causes cars to run rich and rough because the air that was supposed to be accounted for in the system by the computer has been vented off into the atmosphere with super cool noises.

Many stock set ups, and the Forge BPV (bypass valve) will act like the stock piece and recirculate the air back into the system when releasing pressure. This normally will not make as significant of a sound, yet, keeps the car more happy. I have the Forge BPV because the aftermarket pieces are more reliable over time and reliably hold higher boost levels.

SO what is this guy using in this video? It's making a loud "pshh" noise as if it's venting to atmosphere, BUT this is the exact "BOV" I am being told is NOT a REAL BOV... So i'm just very confused lol

That looks to be a full atmospheric bov. There is no hose that comes off of the piece that would recirculate into the system. Opposed to this, which has the small tube running off the top of the valve, to recirculate.

i do know that when I had the forge bypass valve on the wrx, there was a bit of an increase on noise but nowhere near the noise of a atmospheric vent bov.
