JB+ worth it?

For my 2012 MCS is this worth it? I bought the car used and it came with extended warranty and maintenance packages. So i really am not trying to void those. So serious mods have to wait 3 years. As for this do i need anything else before i get this? I probably will get the intake from NM first but anything else?
Thanks for the help!!

I just installed one a couple weeks ago. I would say it's worth it.

Could you feel the difference? Have you took it in to the MINI shop and did they say anything? I still have extended warranty so i need to be able to pull it off when i go in without them noticing.

Have one on my 2011 R56S. Well worth it! Just took mine in for repairs under my aftermarket extended warrany. I waited for 30 mins after shutting down, disco'ed the battery negative, removed the JB+, reconnected everyting. Check engine light was still on. I had a bad misfire issue, and an odd noise when I turned the car off. Plus the Aux water pump was making odd noises. Dealer diagnosed and warranty company (Hendricks) approved all 4 coil packs, water pump pulley, friction wheel, acc belt and aux water pump. No questions asked. Cost me $48.33. Car really felt down on power when I picked it up, due to no JB+. Got home, re-installed JB+, and within a few miles, all the power was back!

Wait Hendrick mini in charlotte? That's the one Imore going to lol. The jb+ isn't what caused those problems is it? That thing is so tempting!

JB+ did not cause the problem, as far as I know. Bought my 2011 R56S at BMW of Murrieta, CA, used. They sold me the extended aftermarket Hendrick AutoGaurd warranty. I NEVER buy into extended warranties, but I know the Hendrick name from NASCAR, and I had NO idea what I was getting into when buying a MINI. I literally did zero research before purchase! My 2011 had 21k when I bought it in May 2014. The test drive sold me! As well as the low miles and excellent condition. Glad I bought that warranty. My service advisor at MINI of Escondido said they were very easy to work with. Good ole Southern boys! BTW, I have no idea why I keep adding an "S" to Hendrick. Lol.

Lots of people say the JB+ is a "gateway drug", and soon you will want a true tune. I am not finding that to be the case, just yet. Maybe in the future, but VERY happy with the JB+ for now! One of the best mods I have made so far.

Thanks for the info i think that I will end up getting it. I'll probably do a couple other things to my car first just so its ready for that. What else do you have done to your car? Did you need anything done in order to have the JB+ mod?

No other mods were required to install the JB+. Just be sure to follow the instructions. If you buy a used one and don't get instructions, they are available online. My mods are listed in my signature. With the exception of my MB Motoring 7-spoke gunmetal grey wheels.

Free flowing exhaust ( no cats), intercooler, and a tune are the only things that are going to increase your HP. You can use the JB+ while upgrading these parts.

I have been running mine for about a year now and it's epic. I recently installed my P3Cars gauge and clocked a 5.7 0-60 time which is a full second faster than what they claimed stock. It pulls incredibly hard and feels very solid. Have not had a single issue with it and the tune feels like it could have been from factory. It's worth whatever price they are charging these days. (and if you are feeling a bit risky you can adjust the tune to be more aggressive)

Heck yeah. I would pay $399 for a new one. Just take it off before you leave for the dealer for service, takes 30 seconds. I actually don't even mind doing that because I appreciate it more when I feel the stock power. I think the MCS is already pretty quick, it really pulls with the JB+. Just give it 50-75 miles of driving to adapt everytime you put it back on.
I do it anyways but "sport mode" driving in traffic is more like insane mode to me. I have the dial turned up to 75% and mix 2 gallons of E85 with about 11 gallons of 93 octane when the tank is empty. Not a single issue, been running it for about a year and I can't say enough about it. I live in a busy area, no need for anymore power, it would be a waste of money. 20 whp more on a 2,660 lb car makes a huge difference. I actually like the low end torque gains more because of the traffic and lower speeds I deal with. I believe it's up to 30 ft/lb at the wheel increase. It will not dissappoint.

What does it come stock at 50%? and can i just run 93 in my car if i use it the way the JB+ comes from the factory? I'm not sure what E85 is unless that is the cheapest gas lol i use 91 or 93 whatever it is a can't remember i never really payed attention. So if i use it the way that it comes without tweaking can i continue using the same high grade gas that it normally requires and still gain 20hp and 30lbs torque? I can't wait to get it. Tinting my windows first though. So you guys don't think that long term it will hurt my car? I love this car and want it to last but at the same time i'm not going to nothing to it haha.

Stock 50% setting is just a safe mode. The new ones, I hear, come set at 100%, and are now CA CARB legal. I run only 91 (that's generally the best I can get here in CA), and only from a 76 or Chevron station, and have my JB+ set to 70% currently. No issues, and from what I have read, no long-term usage damage should result. But, that being said, if you constantly "drive it like you stole it", and/or overlook regular maintenance, or use cheap parts, even a completely stock vehicle will suffer premature failure. Use factory MINI oil filters, good quality engine oil (I use Mobil 1 0w40 European Formula), and change oil and filter at no more than 5k intervals. Also, check your oil level frequently, and understand how to use and read your dipstick! I invested in a CravenSpeed dipstick, and it is definitely easier to read than the stock MINI dipstick.

Thanks for all of the info! So will the new ones still add those power ratings if they come set at 100% already? I usually drive my car very easily and even when I step on it I don't go to redline. 9 time out of 10 I'm just driving to work. Sometimes on the weekends though I'll venture out and find a back road. But even then that's more handling. I plan to take very good care of my car! I love this thing. It may not be the fastest thing in the world but is sure is fun to drive! And that's all that matters. Well that and my insurance didn't really go up and it even gets great mpg! It's the perfect car for me.

I've contacted BMS in the past and was told the newer JB+ units that come preset at 100% are equilivent to the previous units that come at 50%. Not sure if that is all the new ones or just the ones being shipped to CA to be CARB legal. You'll have to email them to find out. But either way, just use 91-93 octane if you don't plan on messing with the dial and you'll be fine. If you get one preset at 50%, do some research if you plan on turning it up. Other than that, it's just plug and play.

Just got mine and it was set to 50%. Had to turn it down to 30 for my 2016 Countryman JCW expected to arrive on the 27th. How long is the break-in period before I can plug in? Thanks all.

The module works as we have sold many JB modules over the years. But will never work as well as a real ECU tune. So you should consider that as that will have more control over the boost and make more power. We have tunes starting at $400 so they are very cost effective.
