Buying summer wheels and tires early?

Switching over to winter wheels I found one summer wheel is cracked. Just out of curiosity I checked prices on tire rack. I found some close out rims I like for $99 ea and tires for $89. $752 isn't terrible. I'm thinking about buying now and storing until March. Is this crazy? What is a really good price if I want to wait And be a savy shopper?
I'd prefer to keep my money in my pocket longer and worry bout wheels in the spring but if buying now saves me money in the long term...

The summer wheels are about 8yr old team dynamic racing. White finish was trashed early and I started caring less and less after that. all have aquired a touch of road rash over the years Even with restoration one will obviously be a replacement if I can get a replacement.

Not crazy at all. Typically, buying off season does give you a bit of a savings. I do this with winter tires. At the end of the winter, people put up tires on craigs list, etc. for sale for cheap! Maybe look around on craigs list and see what you find as well.

Sure you can buy wheels discounted in the "off Season" or on Special during Black Friday.

you can buy wheels only or wheels and tires mounted from tirerack. Give Alex@tirerack.com a ring (extension 4294).

You just need space to store them and have money for tires as well. Be sure not to store new tires in a place that could harm the rubber.
