Curious if anyone has tried them? Since most all graphics are vinyl anyway, this seems like a decent option at a fraction of the OEM plastic scuttle offered through MINI.
3M product for $17 and free shipping. The JCW is speaking to me.
Had my car "Tattooed" by a local specialist, Window tint, lower panel checkerboard, and some red striping to the bonnet strips and chrome grille piece done ala JCW.
I like what you did. The side graphics look great in a subtle way. I've been considering something similar on my Moonwalk Grey F56. I don't know about the vinyl scuttles. They might work out great for a fraction of the cost of the Mini versions.
I have a set of these I'll let you have for $15 and you won't have to wait for shipping from china. I wasn't happy with the way the grey in the scuttles matched my Thunder Grey car. Also Have a set of JCW Pro mirror covers I'll let go for $75. Haven't even opened the box. Got tired of waiting and went with OEM. I ended up going OEM on the scuttles also. Like you said, OEM is way more expensive.
These pics will give you an idea what they'll look like.

I'm kind of leaning in the OEM direction myself. The color match was my concern and the durability of the product (fading and/or peelin/bubbling) over time.
My car "Tattoo" guy said he could design and have made a scuttle in any color or design, I'd choose, but again, this would be a one time custom deal and would likely be way more expensive the the sticker offered online.
I like the way your car turned out. The OEM scuttle looks finished, (and if installed with double backed tape) can easily be removed and remounted at will.
Maybe w/ Black Friday coming we'll see a 10%-15% off offer from one of the re-sellers

I think you'll be glad you went the OEM route.
I had mine done while it was in the body shop. I suggested 3M tape and he talked it over with a couple of his techs before suggesting a two part adhesive. The consensus was that the gap caused by the thickness of the tape wouldn't look as good and there was a good chance something could snag on the edges causing damage to the scuttle. He said the stuff he was using was the same adhesive they used installing the windshields in Mini's. I do know that after a couple of hours with masking tape holding them in place that they were set enough to remove the tape leaving them with a perfectly flush fitting appearance. No charge for the adhesive either. The dealer/parts guy wanted $50-$60 for the tube of adhesive they recommended.
I've still got a new set of JCW Pro style mirror covers if you're interested.
so what was used to do the red stripping to the bonnet and chrome grill bar? is it vinyl?

If your into the DIY stuff and want to use your own vinyl or have a sign shop cut it for you I would recommend using/asking for Oracal 751 as it's an 8 year outdoor film/vinyl. No peeling or fading for at least 6+ years should be observed. We use this same film when doing window decal and stickers. Good stuff.
Sorry u missed it , just got back into the office. Just wanted to update on Friday we had 5% off all Genuine MINI and Genuine European MINI, that sale if over. But we still have many other items and brands on sale.
My Svc Manager popped the one's on my car (when I had scuttles and mirror caps installed) and is sending them out for Chili Red paint.
They snap in from the front. He had some difficulty removing them as they are held in by four snaps on the inside (top and bottom). He used a small screwdriver (working through the vent opening towards the back) to press the tabs down from the vent opening. He got two of them to release and the vent popped out.
The Service manager at our dealership is a great guy with lots of helpful info and assistance.
I saw where you can buy replacement ducts for around $80 for the Chrome and less for the black, if you prefer to keep your originals black. Some guys have used Home Depot plastic enamel spray plaint and have had great results.
I ordered the vinyl scuttles as I figured I wasn't sinking that much money into it. When they came I installed them at night in garage and thought they didn't look bad. The next morning in sunlight my opinion changed. It would look ok if you didn't have anything lease with JCW colors on car, but they sure didn't match the mirror caps. The grey has done a greenish tinge and the red an orange cast. So they went into trash. I liked the look, so may go with the factory scuttles.
I had the same experience. Ordered a set of the vinyl scuttles because they were way cheaper than the OEM parts. When they arrived I found out why they were so cheap. Mine had a green or OD tint to it too. Lesson learned, and sprung for OEM scuttles and mirror covers.
Duct color is a perfect color match to JCW scuttles and mirror covers, however the red wrap used by our window tint guy for front grill cross piece and hood stripes are too orange in comparison.
Next project, is getting grill piece painted same Chili Red as ducts and the striping to match.
First photo is normal lighting and colors don't look too far off.
Second Photo with camera flash really shows off the color diff
Ducts look good, but I see what you mean about the difference in color. I went with the JCW grill. I don't feel bad about the badging because I'm having the JCW Pro Tuning Kit installed next month.
