R50/53 White wheels
I went to tract my mini since it went into production and I find out I have white rims. I didnt order it this way cause I thought they would get really dirty. I ordered 17"wheels for the S . I suppose i can have this changed at the dealership but wondering now if I should. How many of you out there in Mini land ordered white wheels to match mirror and roof? If anyone did and has been driving around on them for a while wondering if you would have ordered something else( the chrome or alloy) Are the white alloy too.

Not a silly question ...
I have white wheels and I like them best. when I got to the dealer to pick up the car, it had been built with alloy wheels by mistake and I had them swap them for the white, so I saw the car both ways. I really like that the wheels match the mirrors and the roof. Yes, they get dirty (I have had my car 1 month and drive it daily) mostly because the brake pads are really soft and you get alot of dust from them. But it washes right off and probably shows on the alloy as well. I have not once had second thoughts about getting white.

The problem with white rims is that they turn yellow after a while. And since they are painted, any chip that will occur, it will be so much more noticeable. But if you really take care of the rims, like daily cleaning, you should not have the yellowing occur. Good Luck!
Hmm...I'm not so sure about noticable yellowing. All car paint changes color over time. That's why good body shops color match your paint rather than just use a factory color. Your wheels should continue to match your roof as they both change over time.
As for chipping: I'm trading in a white '96 Sebring Convertible w/white wheels in a few weeks. The Sebring was my wife's car before we got married, and was never garaged or particularly well cared for. However, 6 years later, the wheels are in no worse condition than the rest of the paint.
If mid-90s Chrysler paint technology will last for 6 hard years and 112,000miles, then I'm pretty sure that 21st century BMW technology will be satisifactory. My Indi Blue MCS will arrive with white S-Lites!
