Clutch creaks

Hello! I have finally have something that I'm somewhat concerned about in my Just-a with 58k miles on the odometer. When I press the clutch in, with the engine off and only when the car is warm (doesn't happen on a cold car) I hear a creaking noise, like an old mattress. It's not that loud, and it does come from underneath the hood, since I can only hear it with the window open/from the outside of the car. Any ideas? Thanks!

It's probably your throw out bearing binding on the guide tube. It's not a quick and easy fix. Basically, if that's the culprit, you'll need to do a clutch.

It could be the guide tube maybe... If you can, have someone press on it while you're under the car to try and determine where it is coming from as it could also maybe be the return spring on the pedal. Some people have lubricated the pivot points and the noise has gone away, but I think they would hear it all the time, even if the car was cold.

Have you checked the clutch pedal bushing, they like to creak and it sounds like coming from the foot well. 35211158290/

If it is the transmission it could be that guide tube hanging up or sticking of the throw out bearing as it slides. Only way to fix is open the transmission up and look at the guide to and grease it. Sometime the guide tube will also get little grooves in the metal from the throw out bearing over time.

It's not the pedal for sure, since I cannot hear it from the inside of the car. Hm, that sounds like a pretty complicated procedure. I think I am going to have to leave it to be, and see if it gets worse before I have to replace the clutch.

Ok, it was a little colder today and it didn't do it even on a hot car...I guess I will have to wait to see if it gets worse.

Reviving an old Thread...has anyone had any luck curing their squeaky clutch pedal with that referenced clutch pedal bushing from ECS?

I just purchased my '06 MCS JCW w/61k (I know this is the wrong subforum--but same problem when I searched) a few weeks ago and I have the squeaky clutch pedal noise. Unlike the OP, mine makes the noise at all temps and even when the car is turned off and I press on the clutch. The creak/squeak is evident from within the cabin--hence why I noticed it.

I've read mixed advice regarding this symptom--just the pedal itself lube the pivot points...to it's the beginning of the end for my clutch!

I don't think that this is an indication of clutch health. If it is coming from the bell housing area it's likely the slave cylinder piston pushing on the release bearing arm. If you like you can remove the slave cylinder (two bolts) and put a dab of grease on the tip of the piston to see if that helps.

The other possible sources require transmission removal to investigate and as someone already stated, you may as well be prepared to do a clutch change since getting in there takes a load of work.

Thanks.
I don't mind the noise. Anything to avoid transmission removal/clutch work.
I've read the noise is pretty common for mini/bmw

The only other option is the UUC version. It's a shared BMW / MINI part.
