Boy is this a disappointing feature. It overrides the map when it is on. So you have to set it to "only on in sport mode". IMHO the only feature that makes the HUD is the map function. It would have been nice if they could have the tach and indicators displaying too!

 

Really wish there was a way to add the tach to non-JCW cars. I like the HUD for maps, yes, but caller ID info is handy and using it to control my music is very useful as well. Sometimes I turn my center screen off at night and with the hud, I can easily see what's playing and skip songs or skip to a specific song (with Apple Music anyway)

 

I'm sure it is possible to make the HUD display smaller and cram more on it. That would require some serious graphic programming. It is like anything. I read somewhere that some one had made a custom boot screen for a BMW.
We just need more nerds in the forum!
