JCW Race spoke wheels

Anyone with these wheels go through a car wash yet? It looks to me that they might stick out too far beyond the tires. Just picked it up 10/30. White silver, black roof and mirrors

All the JCW wheels have convex spokes to clear the Brembo's. Running them through a grind-a-wash isn't the wisest idea. Hand-wash or use a coin-op wash, unless you want to "be that guy" that has terribly curbed up wheels on a brand new car.

Congrats on the JCW, by the way. Have you posted up any pictures or specs?

I never take my Mini to a car wash. The one time I did the bozo somehow got the cover off my armrest, he broke the darn plastic guide off.

Yeah, only hand washing for my car, and only MY hands. It was bad enough that my dealer's detail crew put buff marks all over my 2016 JCW, and destroyed the stripes. And, this after I specifically told my salesman that I didn't want them to buff the car in any way. I had to have my detail guy do paint correction on it, and add the stripes back to the car. Any kind of drive through car wash will swirl the heck out of your paint.

Other option is, to go to a touchless car wash at your local gas station.

It's only good though in between "real car washes by hand " to get rid of dust and minor road grime.

Ok. I answered my own question. It's 33 degrees and windy here in southern NJ. Car needed a bath so I took it to my local brushless carwash. Went into the track (left wheels only) and came out on the other side with NO damage and nice clean wheels.

I totally get that....I had to have both door sill plates replaced due to damage when my JCW was brand new at the dealer. To their credit the dealer pointed them out to me when I picked the car up (but they didn't tell me how it happened!). I had given instructions that I would detail my car personally....just remove the white coverings to check for any damage. I suppose when removing the plastic coverings in the interior some bozo ripped off the blue plastic covering on the door sill plates and the paint lifted in places! (But I'm only guessing...it was in the middle of summer, so it was likely hot).

So glad I detailed my own car, as I had heard horror stories of swirl marks, etc...my JCW is all black too!

Glad it worked out for you in the end,

John

Those race spokes do poke a bit to clean the brembos.

I would hand wash it , but I know in NJ , if you dont have a driveway to wash it there is no real clean do- it-yourself place, like trying to find a pump your own gas. Say away from the brush ones for autos and those ones that hold the wheel if possible. Laser if you have to use them , also ones that have a normal floor and trigger by motion only.

If your local MINI dealership does free washes take it there, unless they have a brush system.
