Just FYI, if you plug into MINI Connected and go to Sport Gauges, it'll show exact coolant temperature. Also the instrument cluster shows relative temp in a bar graph if you cycle through the on-board computer options.

Aware of Scangauge and Ultragauge and call up data options. Looking for a gauge to mount, matching interior, like the Marshall gauges for R56, but designed for F. Option would look better and allow constant viewing when on track.

Paul. Those look great! Good find. I used the same bracket on my R56.

That's the ticket. Perfect. Would you describe sensors, installation issues, please. Thanks.

Let me start by saying I only have what you see in the picture installed. I've not hooked up wiring or sensors (Hopefully this weekend). With GregoryK's advise I'm going thru the firewall near the battery. The sensors are small (1/8 NPT) and I believe there's a tap to the oil lines just above the plastic oil filter housing where Mini has their oil sensor. I'm going to need some type of manifold to hook all three sensors in.

The gauges are from Autometer and while they're a great visual fit, they need to be modified to fit Cravenspeed's bracket. The gauges mount using a "nut" on the OD of the gauge. The Cravenspeed brackets want two screws coming out the back (see photo) which I bonded in with JB weld.

Coolant temp should be and easy install. You need to get the sensor into the heater inbound line. Cravenspeed made one for the R56 but it might fit on our cars. I have them looking into it on their F56 this week. You may just have to cut the hose and connect the pipe between the cut pieces and clamp it in place. Papa is working on an oil temp/pressure tap. A boost adapter which takes the 1/8"npt sensor is available from NM and Cravenspeed for $60.
The problem with adding gauges to the F56 is the dimming of and the switching on and off of the new gauge lights. Because the whole system is monitored by the computer and Canbus and there is no dimming wire per say to tap into.
I have ordered different gauges to Papawhiskey they have a dimming wire that senses voltage but does not draw from it. Problem is it needs to sense 12v for maximum brightness and I have no idea what the led's in the dash lights use - but I doubt it is 12 volts. No mater what the solution it is likely to involve hacking into the circuit board of the lighting consoles dimmer wheel.......watch this space.

Hate to revive a very old thread but I was wondering if anyone ever got accessory gauges hooked up and found a wire to tap into that allows for the gauges to dim when the lights are on?

TIA
