Hi All,

My 78 year old father has decided he's outgrown his '08 Cooper S. I am going to gladly take it off his hands and then drive it two days home. (The things we do for family...) The most pressing question at this point is do I need to take a stack of CDs with me or can I plug in a flash drive full of music?

Looking through various threads, I see that it's USB capable with the USB/Ipod upgrade (or whatever it is). I couldn't figure out if a car with the standard stereo is compatible. I have no idea which stereo is in the car. All I know is that it's "too &@#$@# complicated" for my dad to use.

I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions after I get it home, but that's it for now.

here's a link to the owner's manual of the 09 .... the AUX and USB interface is discussed on page 80 (they don't have the 08 manual and my 07 was different, just has the AUX and no USB)

Yep, if it has a USB port, just plug one in with your tunes. It will play just about any music format (ie mp3, wav, etc)..

 

Thanks much. I hadn't thought to look for an owner's manual online. I found a 2008 manual which says it does have a USB port. Awesome. I've become spoiled the last few years.
