New motor was installed do I still worry about the time chain
Hey,
I have a 2007 MCS about two years ago a new engine was installed by the dealer. Do I still need to worry about the time chain issue with our cars?
Any help would be great.

I'm a bmw tech and the four cylinder N20's have big timing chain problems and in fact replaced one for that reason just this week and the new engine will probably have timing chain problems down the line but many many many miles down the line but only if oil changes aren't kept up on. Im sure someone could answer better but bmw-mini
An N14 engine is an N14 engine. I don’t think you’ll be impervious to the chain issues. Perform 5000 mile oil changes, and pay attention to oil consumption, and the timing chain will last longer than it normally would.
I wouldn't be concerned as even 2 years ago the engines would have had the latest and greatest timing chain kit available.
Just do the maint like 5k oil changes, premium fuel and drive it.
