Upper dashboard cover...how much work is involved

http://images.wrenchead.com/vctr/197...455_11Full.jpg part 11 in the diagram. How much work is involved in replacing it? I have an opportunity to buy one from a salvaged car (airbags did not deploy, so the cover is intact) much cheaper than what it goes for brand new. The previous owner stuck a GPS mount on mine, and there is a wrinkly spot on the cover after I removed it. I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble or should it just be part of the car's character.

I believe it's not too complicated of a job for the average DIY'er by looking over it in the Bentley Manual. Doing a quick search, I didn't find much other than trim removal how to's. It may be a good idea to pick one up for this project if you think it'll be worth it to you. For the removal, you will need to disconnect the battery, remove the tachometer, accompanying dash pieces, and lots of mounting screws/fasteners. I believe the manual goes over all this on page 513-16. Maybe someone will have some useful links for you. I did find this thread here, but the videos are now private.

I tried taking it off several months back, but got uncomfortable removing it. I had all the pieces out of the way and when I tried yanking it I just didn't know if I was going to break a bunch of tabs or something, so I was hesitant to move forward with the removal.

If you decide to replace it, you should look into having it flocked. You'll have it out anyway.

Maybe we can get Mario Kart to chime in. I believe he wrapped his entire dash area in alcantara
