While at Flow for the Aug 8th rally, I noticed that the 2005 Cooper in the showroom had HSport springs and aftermarket rims. Dealer installed. I asked Lee Davis about it and he said, "Oh yeah. We sell the crap out of that stuff."

I've heard of dealers installing aftermarket parts upon request (sometimes covered, sometimes not), but this is the first time I've seen it. And to see it at Flow makes me happy. Especially considering a couple of the mods I've done.

 

Seeing this made me that much more enthusiastic about modding my MINI.

So it's no holds barred now.

 

How hard was that M7 device to install Audioman? I've got one sitting at the house, but not found the time lately to try the install. That and I was waiting to hear final results concerning it. I need to go scrounging around NAM to see if I can find anything.

 

It wasn't really that hard. The instructions say to remove the intercooler (which I did) but I don't think it was necessary. The only thing the removal did was let me see where my hands had to go. It did not help me with access.

The stock tube was really snug at the fittings and took some doing to pull off. I was a little concerned that I wasn't going to be able to get the M7 tube back on.
Just keep at and you will get it.

You have to do this one by feel as there is no way to see what you are doing, you might as well be in the dark.

The M7 device is a modified vacuum line to "allegedly" change the response time of the supercharger bypass valve. Hopefully to make supercharger respond faster.

Well Audioman... does your car have quicker throttle response now?

Well I don't think I'd do well in any double-blind study, BUT, the throttle response does seem smoother. Quicker... now I'm not so sure about that.

In the lower RPMs, first gear, the car would seem to bog, but not like the dreaded stumble, it just seemed sluggish. Since the M7 "device" install I haven't experienced this.

When I get some time, I an going to swap back to stock to see if this is just having some sort of placebo effect.

Is that an electric blue '02 MCS? I know of one that used to live in Greer, S.C., and was sold not too long ago. It was quite tricked out.

That's probably the one. There's no rear seat because there was a pair (I think) of monster subwoofers back there.

I'm coming up on my 25k mile service and I am very seriously thinking about asking Flow to install some decent brake pads (like EBC or Green or whatever they are called ).
