Interesting perspective and some useful information about the manual transmission: http://www.motoringfile.com/2015/07/...-level-review/

Good read. I was severely underwhelmed by my 10 minute test drive of an automatic JCW. I really wish there was a way to get a more defining drive in a manual to help me make a better decision.

It's fun to read a passionate review from a press newbie. Sometimes a fresh approach gives good perspective.

Interesting he didn't love the Dinamica seats, but he did love the F56 sport seats. I know some people opted for them in their fJCW. Sounds like he liked 16" wheels for their looks too. Wonder why?

Who knows what his body shape is. The 2015 JCW at MilesAhead that I drove had the $1950 seats and I found them to be adequately supportive for spirited use. I'm 5'9" 140#, so most seats aren't narrow enough for me. As reference, I found the Mk6 GTI and Golf TDI seats super supportive, but the Mk7 GTI seats are positively pear-shaped.

A friend of mine in the auto press is quite obese and constantly whines about seats being uncomfortable, yet I don't believe he's ever noted in his writing that he's pushing 4+ bills. I think the takeaway here is; don't rely on the press to comment on seat comfort, as their body types are all over the map.

No, he didn't say that, and 16" won't even fit over the brakes. He likes the 18".

Good review and I have a few issues with part of it, but it hasn't run me off the JCW manual. I still feel that I have lost some control with the automatic, even the new improved one. Now if it was the new 8-speed I might consider it. But I'll continue my preference with the manual. I'm. It a lover of the dinanica red striped leather either. It looks faded to me and doesn't match the Chili Red or the optional dash red. Then, of course we have the $1950 surcharge that I'm not willing to pay.
