First chrono pak and new cup holder?

We are starting to see the 05's being delivered, but I have yet to see photos of the elusive Chrono pak, with moved speedometer, and the new cup holder that is to replace the minifini design.

Anyone out there got pics of these new in the U.S. items on a U.S. car yet? Someone remarked that the chrono pak looked cool at night, but offered no pics.

Here's something I have been wondering about. How many people actually floss every day? My dentist keeps telling me to but I find it hard to believe that even a dentist flosses every day.

flossing is graet, and more important than brushing to prevent cavities! I prefer the floss to the dentist drill. but alas, my teeth are rather weak...

Flossing is like the cherry on the top of the sundae. If you are doing everything else, flossing can help, but I would rather see a patient brush well and often than floss badly. Unfortunately good flossing is a skill rarely tought and more rarely learned. I'd say only about 10% of people floss. Just look at the amount of space allotted to toothbrushes and toothpaste at the drug store, and then look at the space allotted to floss. Very small!

Look, we're just killing time waiting for some pics. I thought cup holders were a big deal in the U.S., but this topic seems to be creating little or no feedback. I don't get it.....

This is not the new cup holder - this is the OLD cup holder. There are millions of them out there. Where is the NEW cupholder?

The one in the (first) picture is the one in the '05s at our dealer in Mountain View, CA.

On another note, can anyone confirm that the Oil Pressure Guage (OPG) in the chrono pack is a TRUE guage, and not an 'idiot needle'? Does it rise and fall based on RPM? In early miatas we had a real OPG, but in '94 or '95 it turned idiot needle (apparently too many concerned patrons wondering why their oil pressure changed with RPM ) that went to a fixed position if there was some arbitrary level of pressure (presumably more than zero.)

Uh, Joe, the one you want to see is in the picture you posted. <ducking>

Evidently Mini has a huge inventory of the old holders. When will the 05s begin getting the new holders is anyone's guess. I know my 2nd week July build will have the old one.

Mini should have sell the old ones to Mark and Spencer and cut in the new ones right away.

In a car where new parts and materials are being phased in, (or out if you count the Anthracite headliner), its just good to see what is appearing when. Its interesting to note that most big auto companies are supposed to be working on the Japanese model of "Just in time" supply chain, with a minimum of inventory. What does it mean if Mini has, say two months of old cupholders?

Per info on other posts--the VPC in Charleston has halted release of the 05's because they don't have any cupholders!! "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight" lives. Rock On Charleston VPC!! Oh, they now have 05 stickers! Nick

I've seen pics. The chrono pack is horrendous looking and comes with completely worthless gauges. What a waste of space...

Agreed. I test drove an 05 two days ago, and I definitely give the new crono pak a thumbs down. Thumbs up on the cup holder, however.

...I don't floss, btw

Well, its 8/17/04 and the new cupholder has been sighted. I think it looks a lot better than the old Minifini one, and its attachment bracket color matches the downtubes so it is a lot less obvious looking. My car arrives on the Isolde on 8/19, so it should be fitted with the new design.

So at this point we have seen on delivered cars all the expected features slated for the July build! Missing are the LED taillights, which turned out to be vaporware, perhaps disappearing when Mini had to scramble to change the taillights with the yellow section to all red.

The next decision point is to see if the Anthracite headliner really does disappear on September build cars even if it is ordered as an option.

Funny You Should Ask

I just got this beauty from Ralph Schomp. Its funny in his ebay ad he has both on the mini so you can compare the looks. I think the OEM one is cheap looking to say the very least.

Sure it was 76.99 plus shipping
But its the coolest darn lil cup holder I have ever seen. It is called a Billit Cup holder and is solid as a rock heck its heavier than my Mini.I really like it so much I my purchase another its that cool.

While we are "hijacking threads" I also bought this windshield cover its awosome but kinda big. It really fits like a glove and is also **** (4 star) Quality.

I really like this seller he is where I bought my Ralley lights from 2 weeks ago.
