Getting the Car Looser

Hi all

I have:

- Fat Cat Bilsteins
- JCW Springs
- JCW front sway bar
- H-Sport 25.5 rear sway bar on stiffest
- Hardest (blue) bumpstops in the rear

Aside from adding toe, is there any other way I can add a significant amount of oversteer to the car? I've played with tire pressures a little but nothing to significant has come of it.

Has to be HS legal, obviously. Has anyone seen any significant impact from endlinks? I suspect the reason my set up is still fairly not oversteery is due to how stiff the shocks are, esp the fronts and the bumpstops in the fronts, but I dont know how to take the shock apart. I am running 39 psi front and 43 in the back, as far as rollover goes this is about appropriate for my set up and tire.

Per class rules I cannot:
- change springs
- change front sway bar

Go for the softest front swaybar you can find, and increase rear tire pressure.

Unfortunately I can only change 1 bar. I'll add a couple more details to the OP

ha! yea who was that guy..

unfortunately can't touch springs or anything. the best idea i have right now is to cut the front bumpstops but the shocks are inverted which means i have to open the shock up... car's not loose enough for autox

First, I really enjoy your autox posts.

We met the stunt driver for the Blue MINI, in the newer Italian Job, back in 2003, and he told us that they used 80lbs in the rear tires, to get the car to wiggle. You might not want to go that high, just some input for you.

I had good results on both my sport suspension MINIs by going five psi higher in the front or rear tires. I take it the Bilsteins are not adjustable? Revalve?

they are revalved by fatcat - just looking to go looser. i think a little beyond what changing psi's would do

i know the fronts have 58mm red (soft) bumpstops in them right now. I have to imagine I can safely remove at least 18mm (leave 40mm on) while still leaving enough bumpstop to prevent the shock from bottoming out. doing some research to try to confirm it

thanks for the input - yes 80lbs is too much - i doubt my tires could do it.

finally got around to the car today - unfortunately when i tried to undo the hex at the bottom of the bilstein, i stripped out the hole - some rust etc. must have made it a bit weaker, haven't tried anything else with it... most likely will just let it go and figure something else out.

looking into double jam nut method to remove the shock housing from the threads now

For those sharp turns, I usually brake hard right before I enter the turn (with some trailbraking) and steer for a split second in the opposite direction of the turn, following by yanking the steering wheel hard in the direction of the turn afterwards. It rotates nicely this way. I also never run more than 38 psi on all tires on my direzza zIIs.

I would also put your rear bar on medium or lowest setting as your shocks already very stiff. I don't like my car too stiff though so that is my preference.

Tons of rear toe out??
Add spring stiffeners to rears. If u cannot change them stick some those contraptions in there.
