Urgent question!

Hey all, just as a quick question about the Alta Accessport (about to purchase one, but need to have some questions answered.

1. Were there different versions of the AP where they made them specifically for the N14 and N18 engines?
2. I drive a 2012 JCW it should be compatible with it?
3. I'm sure it has to be unmarried
4. Is there no other way of 'resetting' the AP without plugging into the original ECU it was associated with?

Thanks!!

The AP was only for the N14 engine. So if you have the N14 it would work. Personally I feel they have aggressive maps, and I wouldn't run the highest map you can.

Since there is no longer any support for the AP I would avoid it as you may not be able to get any fix you need.

We do offer ECU Tuning if you ship us your ECU.

Cobb Accessport (Cobb is the OEM, Alta was a sales channel) were only made for N14 engines. The market was never there for N18.
I do believe your '12 JCW has an N14 (IIRC 2013 got N18), but do double check.

No, the only way to un-marry it from whatever DME it is coupled with is by first decoupling it. Otherwise you would be buying an expensive paperweight. I'm sure Cobb could unmarry it as well, but they dropped support for this product (a real @#$% move by them), and used to charge almost as much to un-marry a used one as it cost to buy a brand new unit.

The best thing about Cobb Accessport is the ability to read and reset all MINI specific CE codes. It has other features (real time sensor readings, logging, etc) as well.

There have been recent posts about how Alta Accessport ruined an N14 engine for incorrectly choosing of the incorrect map for the mods he had, yes user error but if you have a relatively healthy N14, stay away from the Alta Accessport.
