Is there a liscense plate registry anywhere? I was thinking that it would be cool if we set up a plate registry, perhaps divided regionally, or better yet, by state, so that anyone who wanted to could list their liscense plate and MINI colours along with their alias/handle/nickname/whatever, so when we saw someone on the road, or parked somewhere, we could get online and see who it was.

It may not be such a big deal in big MINI cities, but I RARELY see another one, and it would be interesting to know who it was, when I do!

I'll start, just because. Also, I just got my plate in the mail today, so I'm official!

The only problem with this is...the vast majority of MINI owners do not frequent this website. So maybe once in a blue moon you'd be able to tell who the MINI owner that you saw was.

 

There must be some kind of problem with those "other" MINI owners. I bet they are the same ones that won't wave when you pass or act like they don't notice you when you are next to them at a red light.

 

I would really suggest joining your local MINI club/yahoo groups list. That is probably the best way to get in touch with a lot of local MINI enthusiasts all at once.

For instance, people in Colorado could join: DenverMINI :smile:

 

I understand all these points, but still.. I don't have time to do yahoo groups, and there ISN'T a local MINI club. A national registry has to start SOMEWHERE, and MCO seems to be THE North American MINI forum online, so why not start here?

Besides, I travel all up and down the east coast, in and out of NY, NJ, ME, CT, DE, PA, VA, MD, NC... so i*I* thought it would be cool to have them all in one place.


OBVIOUSLY it would take a while to make it work, but it would just have to START. it could be incorporated into the membership account info as an optional "show others" field, so that new members could opt to display this info. In addition, that field "liacense plate" could be automatically entered into a database that could be searched by tag, which could lead back to member profiles. <shrug>

I'm isolated in the hills, so I come up with wacky ideas between AWESOME curvy swoopy motoring. (tee-hee)!

 

I vote (guess this is a democracy based forum) for the registry.

If MCO site operators aren't able to set one up conveniently, we could just keep a thread going.

Let's start it and see how many people contribute. It will take a while, and be somewhat difficult to read, but what the heck? Waiting for our cars has made us all a little nutso!
