When I first turn on the A/C it will make a weird noise for about 5 seconds then run fine. It's a pretty loud noise. I'm guessing the compressor is where it has to be coming from? Not a squeaking noise like a belt. Could it be going out?

 

Actually you would be surprised how loud a friction wheel and mechanical belt tensioner.
