I'm thinking of getting an 05' to replace my 04' mainly because of the LSD and i also want the Anthracite headliner. As many of you know MINI has decided to stop producing the Anthracite in the US in a few months. I want to convince them we want it back!

What do we have to do? Call In campaign? E-mail Campaign? Letter Campaign?

The demise of the Anthracite headliner is a real mystery. It has not been stopped outside the U.S. and no one knows for sure why it was stopped. I have heard rumors that it will return as a part of an interior package, or as a separate charge option, but who knows? My car is being built as you read this, so I guess mine will arrive - its just a matter of a darker color should show dirt less for me, especially in a sunroof car.

 

Hey, I just want the "oh, *****" handle and the nifty side visor...:smile:

 

Relax. Since it's still available elsewhere, I suspect it's just a marketing gimmick from our buddies at MINI USA to generate some Buzz. My guess is that it'll suddenly show up again after the drama has played out. I wouldn't be surprised if they even used the old "back by popular demand" line...

 

Yeah, I just noticed those! Looks like there's a "Jesus handle" for the rear seats too!

 

No offense, thats great for the people who get it "later" but i'm thinking of getting my 05' in Jan and i don't want to wait for the liner that may never come back. Plus how do they know that we want it back by popular demand if we don't tell them???

I'm very surprised how unwilling this community is to get something done when MINI seems to listen once in a while. VW communities have had alot of success in getting what they want our of VW why can't we do the same?

Come on people, i'm guessing the Anthracite Liner isn't as popular as first thought? Do we not want this option?

 

I ordered the anthracite dash, does that mean I'll get an anthracite headliner? If not, and I wanted one, I assume I can add it since my MC is not in production yet.

 

My MCS is on the boat and I am a little pissed that by dealer did not tell me about this option. I read about it here on NAM after my MCS went into production. I want it...I would have ordered it...I would want it as an option. Lets start a petition.


I'd bet that they will intorduce it as a cost option for Jan. Just speculation. How much is it worth. I'd bet it would be $150.

 

Thats like me, hoping I'm gonna get it too. I didn't know that we had options to choose from at the time, so I didn't really choose one. So maybe my dealer put that as an options *hoping* hah. Anyway, pessimistically speaking I don't think that will happend and I will love my car just as much!

 

(ZIA) is the interior color option for anthracite.
(4AA) is the headliner option.

holy crap, I just noticed the driver's side window visor! OOOOOH man that hurts my heart... I want one on my 04 so very badly! I think I would have waited a whole year just to get THAT.


I like the anthracite, but honestly I didn't really notice the difference in headliner color until I saw this post. I mean come on... it's your ROOF. I don't understand why anyone would even consider offering "options" on your roof's interior color. No one looks at it! Especially when the sunroof is open and the wind a-blowing...

But I can see why it might be popular, it looks a bit more stealth. No one offered me anything when I ordered- my MINI came with the standard color, even though my dash is in anthracite trim.

 

I rather like the anthracite headliner. Doesn't show dark scuff marks from kids and mechanics alike.

I don't think it should be a "cost" option anymore than the anthracite dash.

Hey while they are at it what about a body color headliner. I've got blue floor carpet to match my Lapis blue interior.

 

I just emailed my MA and asked about adding it to my order. We'll see what happens. :smile:

I recommend going to petitiononline.com or .org (Google PetitionOnLine to get exact address) and initiating a petition requesting that the Anthracite Headliner be an option for US MINIs. You can set it up to run for 2-3 weeks or whatever, then send it along to MINIUSA. I'll sign it, even though I'm not currently interested in a new MINI....but you never know!?

Thanks so much for posting the pix from Gabe's site. I would definitely have ordered the anthracite headliner for Wanda....very nice with all the other anthracite and charcoal colors used in her. :smile:

We got our 2005 mcs in solid black with anthracite dash trim and the optional
anthracite headliner in england it cost me £100 inc tax,the code is4aa.We love the interior well worth the money.the car arrived19/07/04.I love all the changes bar the clock,also fitted chrono pack which looks fantastic at night
Also the anthracite pillars improve the interior,the car feels and looks different class,to the standard headliner,I know not everyone likes dark interiors,but we love it.

We did petition MINIUSA for the rear foglights, and we got 'em in both retrofit and new car option form. An anthracite headliner shouldn't be too hard. Make the petition, I'll sign.

 

Well, my MA emailed me today and told me he had added the anthracite headliner to my MC. No problems.

 

Wow thanx for the support everybody! I'll go to the petition site and see if i can set one up. I've already posted this subject over on Mini2 and i'll start pushing it there. Hopefully we can get it back before at least Jan!

I asked my MA to add the anthracite headliner to my order and she said that it was added but when the car arrived it didn't have it. So who ever asks for it be attended, make sure you keep asking and checking if it's going to be in your MINI!

 

People are oohing and aahing about the features of the Anthracite headliner, but I assume all the 05's have the driver side visor and grab handles and such. Does anyone have photos of the regular headliner in an 05 so we can compare them side by side. The Anthracite headliner obviously will go well with the Anthracite trim, but what about the other trim options?

 

My MA told me that he thinks that MINI will be releasing it as a cost option in the next couple months.

 

This sucks I want to order a 2005 MCS with an anthracite headliner, but because I want a LSD I have to wait until January production. I wonder if I'll even be able to get one then? I had to fight to get one in my 2001 330Ci. What's up with BMWNA and Mini USA anyway???
