So I test drove a 04 MCS yesterday

I am surprising my wife on her 30th birthday in January with a 2005 MCS (Hyper Blue, White roof, both packages, rear fog lights). I drove one of the Monte Carlo edition as the demo, man that was such a blast! The only other car that I've driven that was that much fun was my uncle's 10 year old Porsche Cabriolet. I had a smile the whole time I was driving! I felt bad, though, since the demo car had only 66 miles on it and the salesman kept telling me to wind it up. Definately went past 5000 RPMs, but he kept egging me on to go faster. Poor poor MCS, but atleast that car will know I will take care of the one I'm buying. I can't wait until January!

Anyways, down here in FL there is a two month order time as of right now for the 05s. The salesman said this could change but he will give notice if it begins to creep up. I'm so psyched!

I can't wait to be able to put my specs underneath my sig!

I felt the same way when I first test drove the MCS last Feb. The MA told me there was a 2 month wait so I placed a deposit down and now after 6 months, he is still telling me that there is a 2 month wait. Just don't want to keep your hopes up. Better go out of state car shopping.

I ordered my car 6/24 and it is now being built and is supposed to be done Aug 6. With 5 weeks to get it to the dealer, that's still only about 2 months. Lots of cars are seemingly being built ahead of schedule - they must be cranking that factory like crazy!

Hey DrQuinn...

Are you QuinnNSU on the SDN boards?

I saw a post a while back that made me think you were one and the same person.

Congrats on the car decision. Your wife is a lucky lady  .

Quin,

Which dealer did you go to? When i ordered my 04' at Lauderdale MINI it took just under a month. Though lately they have have been less than stellar in the service dept.

I'm going to be getting the new Hyper Blue with a white roof. Wish they had a HB that I could look at, but that's what I get for getting an '05. I like the purple too but she's pointed out the blue/white roofs on other minis and how she loves it, so I gotta go with waht she loves, after all, it is her car (but I made sure to get the Xenon headlights!)

I went to Ferman. Not too psyched because they are asking a $499 dealer fee. I have another thread where I ask if any other dealers have fees. Haven't heard anything about Orlando and I tried to contact them but no dice.

DrQuinn's Stalker

I mostly lurk on SDN--I'm not even sure what my username is anymore. The board for my specialty is pretty slow, so I hardly ever look at it. I always check out the things I learned from my patients thread on the ER board, though--that has to be one of the funniest threads on the entire net.

I just finished residency in PM&R and am getting started in private practice. The MINI was our finishing residency/selling the house present . We love it.

Sorry about the stalker thing . I just remember seeing one of your posts a while back on NAM and then heading over to SDN to check out the latest in hysterical ER stories---and going "Hey-- I think this might be the same guy" I think I remembered you because of the incremental PGY status (1.8, 1.9, etc.)

Anyway, welcome to the MINI club. And congrats on finishing your intern year.

Yeah, the PM&R forums are pretty slow, even though we have a moderator who is up in Mayo I think in charge of it its one of the slower threads. The ER thread (which I am the moderator of) is a lot of fun, and we have some funny threads going on (see our "ER Haiku thread" too for some laughs).

Congrats on finishing residency! Thats' so awesome that you treated yourself to a new MCS!

I've been saving up 1k a month for the past 6-7 months to put as a down payment to my wife's MCS. She is turning 30 in January and I bet she is expecting a lot (a lot to her would be a surprise party and then a trip somewhere), she has NO idea I am getting her the MCS! I will have to post pics of her face when she first sees it, it will be classic.
