Hello to all,
I hope this is the right section to post a question about GPS. I have just bought a 2012 MCSc and love it. I would like to install a GPS and backup camera combination. Has anyone done this?? If so what GPS and camera setup, and where did you mount it? I want a stand alone unit, but do not want a "Jury Rigged" look. The Mini interior is too well organized now.

If you search NAM for "back up camera", you'll get a number of threads describing options for installation, wired vs. wireless, types of GPS that allow cameras, where they mounted camera and GPS, how to get power to the camera unit, field-of-view options, etc. Gotta do your homework!

I have a Magellan 9055 with wireless back-up camera on another vehicle, and it works well for me. Not as sharp as with a factory-installed nav system, but useful for backing out of an angled parking space into oncoming traffic.

 

Thanks. I had checked on the 9055 and was told it would only work with the dedicated camera. I want to use a small wireless camera that would mount behind the tag, rather than in front. Fla. has a 'Blue Law' that makes it unlawful to have any part of a license plate obstructed. One mount that I used on another car blocked top half of "lor" in 'Florida. Was stopped by an overzealous city cop, and given a warning ticket, even though I was'pulling and attitude'. I had asked if he was new, in training, or playing a prank on me. Some residents have had to remove license surrounds on the side of the road when stopped by a state trooper. Don't want to have to remove an offending backup camera.
