Best plug for JB+

Ok, wife has owned to 2 MINI's, 2011 MCS and now a 2012 R57 , both with JB+ and both around 34-36K suffered a dropped plug, ie insulator cracked and dropped causing missfire , research says spark knock , should we be running 1 colder or hotter in hopes of not repeating or is 30K a good time to just replace plugs as PM ?

I've emailed BMS asking them if 1 step colder is needed. I only have the JB+ on a '12 MCS. They said it wouldn't hurt but not totally necessary with my set up. I think unless your putting out a lot more hp over stock (50+,) it isn't a must.

Yep,Johntotah 94, you're probably right, cheaper and easier to find! But what else is different, only cap? heatrange is same.

I thought stock heat range was 6 and the NGK ILKR8E6 is a 8 heat range.
I used the stock plugs with the JB+.
The stock Beru Plugs were crap when I got a tune. Could not handle the higher boost.
The ILKR8E6 are from a Mitsubishi Evo and they can handle a lot of boost.

I hear the NGK plug can crack the insulator under higher boost. Was your plug a NGK?
My recent Brisk Silver plugs melted after 4k miles
Trying the Denso now.

-If you do not have mods under hood, you don`t need colder plugs."Heavy mods", more boost , aggressive tune etc .and a lot of increase in power then you may need colder plugs.

Ok, got some new NGK IR plugs in heat range 8 from my local manic tune guy who says these are best for high boost , now my problem is that I have thin wall 14mm 12pt BUT these plugs are 5/8" 6 pt , do I have to find a thin wall 5/8" ? Anyone know exactly how small the N18 hole is for plugs ?

Another option if you want to stick with a 12 point is the NGK ILZKBR8C8S. They have been successfully used in the past. The dimensions are correct for our application and were originally designed for the BMW F30. What they are not however is cheap. Expect to pay ~$75 for a set.

Terry recommends the NGK 5992 for the N18 gapped at .022" (out of the box it's .032").
