Dealer ninstalled sun screens anyone?

Do they obscure outside vision noticably or fairly clear looking out? Debating the JCW version for side and rear windows.

Thanks

My co-pilot just took delivery on a new CM and had the glass tinted. Looks great, no change in visibility and she loves the look. Everything else on hers is black so it really carries the theme.

PS: First time in a long time I've got to sight see as the co-pilot.

Are you talking about the custom fit mesh screens like the sunroof? If so, yes they obscure the vision out of the car compared to window tint. I have them on my '05 and it's really noticeable, especially at night. If I drove the car more than a few times a month, and didn't spend so much on them, I would get rid of them for regular tint.

sunscreens / tinting

Can't speak to dealer installed sunscreens... we had screens on cars when I was a kid in Arizona, the did limit visibility at night. Just had my windows tinted and they are great, no visibility issues. I went 35% on back window and rear side windows, 50% on driver and passenger windows. I think they look nice also. See below:

I have the MINI sun screens on my Clubman S. As mentioned by someone else, they are the same material as the sunroof screens.

Visibility is ok, both day and night. They can add to the glare if your rear windows are filthy and the sun is setting behind you. The plus side is that they are removable. Pull on the tab, and they pop right out. Don't have the dealer install them for you. It is at most a 1 minute job. The clips that come with the screens aren't necessary unless you have a Clubman (for the Club door). Try them on without the clips first.

Other positives are that they keep interior heat down, similar to medium tint (80-90 degree SoCal sun). And they also do a good job preventing people on the street from seeing what's in your back seat. I would have had to opt for a limo tint to get the same effect. I live downtown, so this was pretty important.

From the last picture, my rear seats are folded down, and the silver reflective MINI windshield screen is back there over the seats. It's pretty hard to see without sticking your face to the glass.

Not even sure of the material used. It's on the accessories page of the configuator. Rear screen is $95 side screens are $119 all the way at the bottom set of accessories.

If they are removable, I suppose one could use them as they saw fit or store them if desired.

The problem I have with them is at night. Looking through the mesh at night is a lot different than window tint. The pluses are they are easily remove able and won't scratch like tint can.

Mine came with storage bags, and they can be twisted/folder smaller to fit in. Removing them once in a while is no big deal, but removing the a few days a week, or daily for night time driving will get old fast.

Check to see if they're returnable if your not happy with them.

Thanks for the reply, if they are removable, that would be cool. Car will used mostly during the day anyway.

The mesh is not too hard to see out of, the newer F56 ones have additional design on the outside , little less on the inside and the mesh looks to be a different blend. You can always pop them in and out, unlike tint.

F56+ versions.

Thanks

Very cool photos, thanks for posting. Maybe the side screens would be the best option. Looks nice and no issue with rear visibility. I like em.

Thanks, On the outside, the patterns really show. On the inside, its faint but there compare to the outside.
