E-Z fuel injector removal - RIGHT!

I can't stop laffing about this. I decided to upgrade my little R53 racecar to a JCW tune and pop in some bigger 380CC Bosch injectors. Cake.
After getting the rail off, the injectors would not budge. Period. They all were frozen because of factory aluminum intake and injectors with a steel body. And also because racecar.

So off comes the intake and I had to use a drift pin and hammer out my injectors - in pieces. i ain't never seen anything like this before. I cleaned out the injector ports nice and I'm ready for action once the ECM comes back.

YIKES! anyone seen this before?
I know the car was a new england salt car, but wow!

one of the mods had injectors that were badly corroded......the he still got them out...but i think they were swelled up....
at some point, the injectors switched from bare metal to a painted surface...have see pics of both, the the std "s" ones and the JCW ones...some with the coatings, some bare....

Mine weren't as bad, but they were seized down there. I never had that much trouble removing injectors before.

Mine were really stuck in there too. I was just doing my head gasket so had to re-use them. Took a lot of wiggling and pulling to finally get em out. Sprayed a lot of wd40/pb blaster too.

I live in Wisconsin where we salt the hell out of everything. They salt before, during and after the snow storms

I remember once I disconnected everything from the fuel rail I had to grab it and yank on it pretty damn hard to get the the injectors to come out with it. I too read a bunch of diy's on the topic and thought it would be alot easier than it actually was. Here are what mine looked like after about 90000kms in southern ontario.

I just put in some new Bosch 380cc injectors last weekend in my 03' MCS with 130,000 miles on it. The stock injectors were a little tough to get out, but with a little "encouragement", that came out. The only think holding them in should be the rubber o-rings. I think over time the o-rings swell up a little making them hard to get out.

Even after 130,000 miles and 12 years, mine still looked pretty decent......those in the 1st post look like hell!

On a side note....have you had a change to run your MINI with the new injectors and the JCW Tune? How do you like it?

the ECM comes in tuesday.
This is a track only car. I wish I could rip it on the street but no plate. WMW is doing the tune I'm sure the car will be night and day. This car has been from mild mannered street car to full race in the T4 class in 2 years, and I think without a cam, I will be near the top. I sure give them subaru turbos a hard time!
