2006 MCS r53 DSC light came on..

Good morning everyone. I got up this morning to head to school turned my car on and noticed the DSC light popped on and wouldn't turn off. I thought I had hit the toggle switch but after flicking it multiple times it wouldn't turn off. Any ideas on what this could be or how to figure this one out? It has just hit 125k and has no other lights on the dash... Help!

I would think the wheel speed sensor in the front wheels may have a short or has failed, but I would also think the ABS light would come on as well

Yeah that's what I was thinking but it seems when those sensors fail we should get the trifecta of lights not just the one.. Hmmm

The crazy thing about this whole thing is no codes coming up at all. It actually turned off recently but now I am worried it'll pop up again or something is actually wrong!?

I had the same issue just last month. It would be randomly on when I turned the car on, it also came on sometimes when I would put the pedal to the floor. I fixed it, but believe it or not the issue was the battery!!! replaced the battery and for the last 3 weeks no issues at all.

Yup! I had the same issue with my fiancée's 2005 R53. The battery was not holding charge well (but the car would still crank and run) and all sorts of strange issues were popping up! The DSC came on, the engine sputtered, the auto Trans was shifting terribly and it even went into low-power mode on the road one day. The battery showed good on a multimeter test, but when I load tested it with my battery tester, is was CLEARLY not putting out enough power under load.

These cars are extremely sensitive to electric output and when a battery starts to die it will create a myriad of strange problems... Further complicating the issue is that is seems not all cars exhibit the same problems when the battery starts to go.

I'd have the battery tested (make sure you specify that it be LOAD TESTED) to see if that's the culprit. These cars will crank with a dying battery, but attempting to drive them with one is quite dangerous due to the weird ways the computer/ECS units try to compensate for low electricity output.

Like I mentioned we all learn something new everyday! Thanks for letting us know, this is weird but honestly doesn't surprise me. Can this load test be done somewhere like autozone or does the dealer have to test?

Autozone or any similar parts place should be able to do a load test for you. The battery tester I use was bought at an Autozone years ago and is the same one they use.

A new battery remedied my DSC magic light show. Thanks to the many threads I have read during the years expounding on the mysteries created by a failing battery.

I have followed the battery debate on this forum for years. Researched the living daylights out of it. Finally after considering big buck batteries I went with a battery that was well reviewed, manufactured by Johnson Controls, had a three year replacement warranty, fits perfectly, easliy replaced at a very large networked retailer and costs $107.00. Laugh as they may, drum roll please-bought it at Walmart.

Hey I believe it...I despise walmart but I will be sure to lookout for the battery. Thanks for the advice. Have you had any issues since?

Not a fan of theirs either however, value and price can weigh heavily on the decision making process. It took five minutes to install once I accessed it. Sofar no issues.

MY DSC light is on and the battery/alternator are fine.

I took it to the dealer today and they said this part needs to be replaced

34516765285 hydro repair kit

It's expensive

Has anyone replaced this part themselves?

I thought about trying to clean the contacts

Just a reminder....
ASC and DSC are similar, but different...
The linked part is for a car with ASC....

Here the link to them all DSC or ASC , you need to determine what system you need, based off your options.
