How do I remove xenon bulbs on R53?

I'm trying to plasti-dip the trim on my headlights. I tried masking the lights and painting with them on, but it looked terrible, so I peeled it off and am trying to take them off first.

I found the three bolts, and everyone says that's all you need to do. No, it's not. The headlight doesn't come out when those are undone -- the junk behind the headlight won't fit through the passage. There's two star-shaped screws that allow the black casing to swing back, allowing them to come out ~6 inches. After that, I have no idea what to do.

There's a hose for the xenon lamp, and then a wire to the light, which need to be detached before it's removed. Has anyone done this?

You probably got it done by now but yes, you will have to take off the bolts you mentioned so the box will swing back. you don't have to take the bulbs out. you just unplug it at the back. just turn it to loosen it.. it's a good diy project, give it another go! also, check the marketplace for a haynes manual. it will help you so much with small projects like this..
