What are we looking at? I get what the catch can does but that appears to be alot of condensated water vapor as opposed to "oil". In looking at what you collected over 10,000 miles it does not appear to be alot of"oil".

Dont get me wrong. I thank u for posting. But i dont think you have the unicorn that u may think u have to share

Maybe it's me but I would prefer to not have this dumped back in the engine.

 

I had the same catch can installed for about 7,000 miles and when I went to empty it, it had 3/4 full of mainly fuel, with a bit of oil mixed with it.

 

interesting. i've debated installing one in my '12 since i got and and just kept putting it off. at under 150 bucks for the M7 OCC, it makes it very tempting to start reconsidering this.

 

Greatest investment ever..

how is the M7 OCC emptied ? is there a bottom drain or does the whole unit need to be removed and taken apart ?

 

What is MINI's stance on the Catch Can with regards to warranty?

 

Try two catch cans and see what you get there is a Mann pro-vent that has its own regulator. Or maybe Siamitchi they have a proper mesh setup still none of this should be getting to the engine at all, and the valve cover controls are just not up to the task I currently run two catch cans and a final fine mesh element and its still not enough my next set up will get it though. I would straight pipe but the vacuum on the crank case does help the way the engine seals and runs, and on a street car I just cant justify extra emissions. An adjustable and variable vacuum regulator would be nice. Water vapor should be collecting a bit more especial when its cold I would check it more often possibly. Warranties are nice but not bullet proof better to take care of this and filter what you can just take it out when you go to the dealer.

 

I just installed the M7 OCC today. The "exact fit" was not really that. The "exact" cut rubber tube were put on the wrong (opposite) connectors. it works but not as pretty as the website and directions look. Whoever at M7 was putting the hoses and clamps on needs to pay more attention!

Also after looking at the method to empty the can I would suggest another manufacture. I have seen cans that unscrew like an oil filter but the M7 can looks like it has a bunch of allen wrench bolts to undo after removing the can from the vehicle.

Another note; if you have a front strut bar then it will need to be removed for the install of the OCC and each time when emptying the OCC. The strut bar does not interfere with the daily use of the OCC though.

Does anyone have an opinion on the size of hose for the catch can? also would that effect the way the vacuum system works? just wondering cause I have a catch can but wanted to adjust the hose size to make it fit better .
