would be going on a N14 engine, I'm curious if it would throw off any codes mainly.

Shouldn't.

It's a stronger diverter valve. Stiffer spring. Quicker actuation. Holds boost better.

I had one in my GTI and liked it. Would love to put one on my GP, but they haven't made a manual N18 fitment yet.

Thats what I was thinking, thanks!

I was originally just going to get a stronger spring from ALTA, but I've read that the stock DV is plastic and doesnt hold up as well as an aftermarket metal one.

I can say I really love it!. I had an uprated DV from a MINI vendor before. It was a nice upgrade. But once I got my tune I noticed it still had some limitations (although not that much). I got the GFB DV+ and with my tune this thing rocks! It holds the boost like I want it to. No longer is it an on-off switch ( really hated that). I can adjust my throttle through turns and not have the DV dump boost right away. Plus I can rest knowing I will never have to worry about a torn DV diaphragm. I say, if you find one used get it! It'll be just as good as a new one! If and when you do get the DV+ just be sure to lube the piston wall with a little oil. It's a step I've seen some people forget/skip.
