Mechanic believes my rattle is internal muffler failure. Any one experience this?

 

Rather short on information, but an exhaust hanger that has rusted and broken can cause a rattle in the rear, but so can a slew of other worn components.

I have seen a couple of cars that have a tinny rattle that comes from the exhaust, and it turned out a baffle had rusted away inside the muffler and is now moving around as well.

 

hmm i'm experiencing a vague rattle from the rear left area.

I have yet to investigate yet but I do have a 1 ball exhaust
