1 month later and 1,065 miles on the clock and it's time for snow tires! Put them on this evening. Pumped them up to 40psi all around, hit the wheels with some spray wax, and slapped them on. Torqued to 105lbs, reset TPMS and went for a drive, all good in the neighborhood.

Edit: Wheels are MSW Type 85, 19.25lbs each. Tires are Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 Runflats. OEM Wheel/Tire Size of 205/45R17".

 

I just recently purchased a set of these for BUSTER and they've been great.

Nice winter convertible. Snow tires and wheels make a difference. Like a tank in the snow. Studded make it even better on ice, but they are a bit louder.

If you want to reduce the rock chips from the tires picking up stones and rocks.

**Make sure the paint is very clean and when you take them off , don't slide them off. Peal slowly from corner not to hurt the paint.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, we have had barely any snow so far this season in North NJ so I have really not been able to test them out. But so far they handle surprisingly well in the dry cold weather.

ECS, I will look into the Magnetic Stone Guards. Do you have those Mevius Lug Bolts in Chrome Neon? I think they would look dope with this rim combination.

 

Nice wheels. What size are your LM-60 tires? Looks like a 215/45 R17 but I cannot read the side wall in your photos. I am considering the Blizzak LM-60, LM-32, Dunlop Sport 4D, and Michelin Ice Xi3. We don't get much snow here in Eugene, OR... Some ice. Mostly rain. From Tire Rack it seems like the Sport 4D has the best wet performance for winter tires.

 

steve, my original post has description of the specs of the rim and the tire. Tire size is 205/45R17 which is the same as OEM size for my vehicle.

I went with LM-60's because I literally had no other choice. I had to have run-flat tires and I only wanted to stick to 17" wheels. So TireRack only returned one option: LM-60's. I understand that there are more sporty snow tires out there (which is what I was looking for), and LM-60's were LAST on my list after doing my research, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they are really not bad at all in the dry and I am still having fun this winter season.

 

I've spent hours on Tirerack.com looking at Winter tires. I discovered that Tire Rack doesn't list all sizes available for a particular tire even when you click Sizes or Specs. I think they only list the sizes they have in stock. However their (Winter) catalog, available for download as a PDF, does: http://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/TRinsidetrackLR_wint14.pdf

That's an easy way to find all sizes without visiting each manufacturer's website. Then you can buy/order from America's Tire or other retailer. Maybe there are other websites like Tire Rack that do list all available sizes, I don't know.

But getting an RFT in a specific size as a Winter tire, I can see you were very limited. The only other choice is the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D 205/45 R17 for $182.

The WS-80 must be new because Tire Rack does not have full test results available. I am particularly interested in wet braking and G force since I mostly see rain and cold here, not much snow or ice.
