Q for anyone who's had a clutch replaced...

Particularly in an All4 -- if you've had a crappy original clutch replaced with something better (which as I understand from my SA, they've been replacing them with JCW clutches), what's your impression and experience with the new clutch? Did it cure all it's ills? Mine is being replaced in my Paceman All4, and I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks!

I had mine replaced at 3K. I could not get confirmation from my SA that the new clutch I received was an JCW or the standard. He told me they both have the same part #, so maybe that means they are all the JCW.

I have a steep driveway and if I stopped at the bottom to get the mail at the mailbox and then proceeded up the driveway from a stop, I had the burning clutch smell. I got it replaced and now let my wife get the mail...

So I don't know if my new clutch is any better or not. It has worked well in all other respects. Please post an update when you get yours installed, I would be interested in your experience.

I thought the difference was pretty clear -- there's a lot more Countryman owners than Paceman, the Countryman has been out a lot longer, and I know there were many owners of Countryman All4's that had clutch problems. I started this thread here to get the impressions of those who actually had their clutches replaced. I revived the other thread to share my own experience with other Paceman owners who might not visit this section but may be experiencing the same clutch issues that I did. And since I had just finished posting my experience over there, it was easier linking to it than retyping it all when someone asked about it here. That's what's up with that.

Copy and paste is a nice function.. Just thought it to be ironic/funny to start a thread and then link everyone away from it.. No biggie
