New HAI 1/4 mile times.

With the change over from the Madness intake to Andy's Hot Air Intake, I ran a bit better 1/4 mile times.

60'--2.338
1/4--14.687
mph--94.67

temp was 76 degrees and quite humid.

Bisch,

You previous time had a much worse 60' time. It looks like the gain was only due to the better launch time. Your launch time was about .2 seconds better, while your quarter mile time was only about .1 second better.

That was my first run of the night. It was on a cool motor. Heat slowed me down for the rest of the night. I wish someone had a larger intercooler I could borrow for a test....

question

i know that it has been said the HAI has better flow numbers and you can obviously see why due to no hose. however isnt the point of a CAI to keep things cooler and to block out heat? therefore wouldn't the Madness type of CAI still be better? I would think the HAI would get very hot, it's just sitting there?

I would say the primary benefit of the HAI is the improved throttle response. While the car is in forward motion, outside air is still pulled in through the hole where the factory intake pipe was. This air flows directl to the filter. Could it benefit from isolation from the motor? Yes, and I'm trying to figure out an effective heat shielding.
