Got a 2003 Mini Cooper S coupe used... love the car. Only problem is that the backlights do not work throughout the radio and nowhere on the climate control system.

It is the standard head unit (although I should probably mention that this is the original Harmann Kardon upgraded radio system, for what that is worth). The display backlight works, but none of the buttons light up. But absolutely no lights (except the temp number in the middle) work on the climate control system. (see photos).

Throughout the rest of the car (including the clock and the backlights on the steering wheel) the backlights work, but just not on the radio head or the climate control system. The interior light dimmer also works, stepping the lights up and down-- still no change or even a flicker on the radio head or the CC.

I checked the fuses but was unable to see any burned out. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a similar problem. I have no back lights on the radio but to be honest I'm not sure if they worked before????? I honestly don't remember because I don't drive at night very much.
