R50/53 2006 Cooper Dashboard Lights Burned Out?
2006 Cooper Dashboard Lights Burned Out?
I just noticed that the climate control panel (the one above the windows/doors switches and below the CD player) in my center console has no backlighting when I turn on my lights.
The panel with the windows/doors switches has backlighting and I have an after-market CD player, so they are OK. I can't remember if the climate control panel ever did have the backlighting.
My question:
If it is supposed to have backlighting, can I fix it myself (fuse or bulb replacement)?
Thanks.

The climate controls have at least 2 lights behind. My left one (temperature and half of the next) is loose and flickers/fails regularly.
I want to hear what others recommend for repair, but as far as I know, its a replacement of the climate control section as they're likely surface mounted soldiered LED's like in the tach and spedo (unless you have the skills/people that can handle that).

A search I did yesterday came up with a fairly detailed procedure for removing the unit and replacing the bulbs - something that looked beyond my ability and patience.
As my backlights seem to have both gone out at once, I was just wondering if it could be a fuse, which would be a whole lot easier to fix.
I looked at the diagram on the inside of the interior fuse box cover, but didn't see anything that was definitely pointing at the climate control unit. Any help is appreciated.
