Grinding rotational noise when driving on right side :(

So i've been getting this sound mildly a few weeks ago... and as of last night it got a lot worse. I had taken off the wheel a few days ago to see if the sound was coming from grinding on the rotor dust shield, or the pads were wearing down at an odd angle. Everything was fine... so today since I had some light i figured i would take the wheel off again and look around. The only thing I can see is maybe this? Should there be a gap here at the end of the drive shaft? :/

Sounds like a wheel bearing to me?

I never had grinding noises with the axles. Recently replaced them for other reasons.

well now it's clicking a bunch... sounds really bad. I ordered the cv axle, but I'm taking it up to a mechanic tonight to make sure that's what he thinks it is

That's the axle I just used to replace my driver side on Monday.

I've gone through a bunch of axles and this one seems to run great so far. Be careful where you get them from...

My mechanic had to shave a few thousandths of an inch off the driver side axle because it wouldn't fit right. Had it fall out on me.

Hey that's the exact one I ordered! Apparently the passenger side is easier because there isnt any clip to remove at the transmission. Looks like it comes in on wednesday...

The Passenger is actually a little harder I think. There's a bracket you need to kinda be careful with. Unless it comes with it (I didn't do the work so I'm not sure).

If you do it yourself, make sure you have the axle in fully. The mechanic mentioned a click. I'm not sure. Just double check for leaks and such. Don't let it fall out on you like I did... lol

Here's a POV video of how to do it:

This guy has great videos. Even cool to watch.
