Drivetrain Data logging SF Bay Area
Data logging SF Bay Area
Is anyone out there doing data logging in the Bay Area. I really could use this service. For those doing it, any suggestions for what software and any other useful tips greatly appreciated.
I like to use ScanXL from Palmer Performance connected to a laptop. You will also need a OBD2 adapter (ELM327 compatible). www.scantool.net has package deals for an adapter and ScanXL. The WIFI versions are generally faster than Bluetooth. Sampling rates can become a factor if you are monitoring greater than 10 PIDs at a time. Such as RPM, boost, MAF, timing, AFR, intake temp, exhaust temp, short and long fuel trims, throttle position, engine coolant temp, etc.) If the sampling rate is too slow then it becomes stair-stepped and is not as useful.
Another option (not as good for actual data logging but okay for live monitoring) is to use a smartphone and an app along with an OBD2 adapter. There are basically two options:
1.) iPhone with Dashcommand (Palmer Performance)
2.) Android phone with Torque
Again you will also need an OBD2 adapter (ELM327 compatible). Stay away from Bluetooth if you are using an iOS device not many will work (the only Bluetooth one that I know of that will work with iOS is Gopoint BT1). I use WIFI.
