15% pulley with 2% crank pulley

Is the 15 pulley with the 2 crank pulley a good way to go? What are the cons about this setup?

Before I respond ... I'll ask this, What is the condition of your engine?

The Cons, are... possible reduced Fuel Mileage due to the increased heavy foot and big smile on your face...an increased chance of speeding tickets, same reason...

Engine Health, you are going to be introducing a little more pressure to your system, so there is the possibility that you might throw a code or two at first, and may require you to have the tune adjusted, especially if you follow that up with 450cc fuel injectors. Additionally that means you want to be able to reduce the intake restrictions by adding a CAI, and in turn maybe then replacing your exhaust manifold with a header all to better deal with the improved air flow.

Advantages: Replacing the Crank pulley, reducing the possibility of having the stock pulley fail on you if it has not done so yet. You will likely also replace your serpentine belt to adjust for the pulley size differences, also an advantage. Might as well replace the O-Ring on your sensor while you are at it, only a minute to do and reduces the weeping oil from it.

Is it a good MOD? IMO, Yes, but take the opportunity to do some of the little niggly bits at the same time.

Motor on!

What crank pulley are you considering?
Lightweight billet style pulleys do not provide the harmonic dampening that is needed to preserve the life of the crankshaft. I would avoid them like the plague (or Ebola).

If you're installing an aftermarket crank pulley, use one of ATI's super dampers. They're the only one's worth using IMHO.

Why use this combination when you can fit a 17% reduction supercharger pulley?

mrbean is correct. If you have to have a 2% crank pulley go with our oversize ATI damper.
But if your rear goal is to get to 17% reduction, just go with a 17% pulley and the regular ATI damper.

I run a 17% and a stock size ATI. It works great. No issues with heat or eating belts.

I have a lightweight billet UD pulley on my SOHC V6. I'd say its been on there 40,000 miles - put on at 100k timing belt service. My crank hasn't died yet. I haven't pulled anything and mic'd bearing journals though.

Since I am a turbo S guy, what do I do since I can't swap out a supercharger pulley? Crank pulley seems the next logical low cost choice

I have lightweight crank pulley, idles smooth as silk. Runs better now with my mods than the day I bought it. I don't think I could take it off and deal with the slower revving to be honest.

It's safe, I've been running this combo for some time now (ATI) and now have over 341,000 miles. Do it!

Try a balanced rotating assembly and lightweight flywheel. Rev-matching is something you just do, you don't even think about it, it just happens. Plus with a bvh and header you can spin to 8k+.
