Off bug spray.

As anyone seen the video of a guy using deep woods off big spray to make the headlights clear again ? He used a sock, spray it with the big spray and rubbed the head light like he was polishing it. Just wondered if it really worked.

I would not use it...
Off is a solvent...it has MELTED folks seats.....a few threads on it...
I would put the video up there with charging you iPhone in the microwave....
Polishing kits for headlights are cheap....
If the residue from The off did not hurt the plastic, the oily residue might temporily make the lens look clear... Just like oil....but I'd bet it will go away....

We use Lemon Pledge on plastics to keep it clear and it does a really good job getting the old fogging off the headlights. We have used it on airplane canopies and the plastic windows on Jeeps. I have used it on several headlights also that were in pretty bad shape. It prolonged having to replace a set or two. Just make sure when you are done that you have polished it pretty good so you don't leave behind a wet surface. That will collect dirt.

Any of the supposed "quick-fixes" for faded/yellowed plastic headlight lenses are only temporary, at least from my experience while working on a fleet of Police cars in the City I work for. Everything from the polishing kits to the sand and re-coat with clear-coat has only limited short-term effects. There are even folks saying that toothpaste works. Have not tried that one yet, to be honest. The only way to get the new-car look, and resurrect your headlights brightness is to replace the headlights with new ones. I know there are many decent headlight assemblies available in the aftermarket, but not aware of any for our Mini's, unfortunately.

Many toothpastes have a fine abrasive in them, so it actually will work much like a polish does.

Keep anything with DEET off plastics, melts them. There are many good polishing kits available. I'd use on of those.

i had lots of problems in my head lights with my impala, i had to do the headlight polish a few times. and in between i used ATF, that made them clear for a week or two depending on how much rain there was. polish kit worked very well, not back to brand new, but to a semi decent looking headlight. my suggestion is unless you have lots of elbow rease, get a fitting for a cordless drill or a orbital polisher =)

Here is a good kit for headlights that have yellowed or sun abrasion :

Premium Headlight Lens Restoration Kit from OSRAM / Sylvania

All I used was that kit and a Dewalt cordless drill set on the slowest setting took less than 15 minutes!
