So, I'm walking outta my Russian Hill apartment on Saturday morning, headed to the Missing Sock with a load of dirty clothes. Right outside my door is a Yellow w/Black 2002 Cooper. Great! I can corner the owner who's standing by the car and talk MINI stuff. Except he's not the owner. He's a Hollywood stunt driver in my neighboorhood with two identical yellow Coopers and a film crew from Bedford Falls Productions.

They were there to film a "regional" MINI TV ad. The driver kept taking the Cooper through the intersection outside my livingroom window at high-speed, fishtailing, then up and over the hill. Also, there was lots of filming of the MINI on the crooked part of Lombard Street, 2 blocks away.

I just dropped everything and stood around taking snapshots of the scene.

Who would've imagined that my house would be in shots for a car commercial or that the featured car would be a MINI.

Then at 7:55 Sunday morning: Same routine. Except this time one of the Coopers has a driver's door-mounted camera to capture the "just-outside-the-car views" of the high-speed turns. Awesome.

I'll post my snaps when I can. If anyone sees the TV ads with yellow Coopers on Lombard and Hyde streets in SF, please make noise.

Sounds WAY cool! I would loved to have seen that. Hope someone can post the actual ad when it comes out, too! If it is *regional* I probably won't see it in PA.

I'd love to see the MINI negotiate Lombard Street at about 35 mph!

I'm jealous. That is one beautiful neighborhood. I love San Francisco, and I love Russian Hill.

On a different note, during its first season, they taped a scene for the HBO hit series, Sopranos, 3 houses from my apartment. I have since moved from that apartment but it's one of the reasons why I love that show - we've been to or know of all of the locations where they film. It's so cool to see a scene in a parking lot that you were just at last week or at a mall that you were at yesterday!

Wow, that's cool! I've yet to see ANY MINI commercials. Hope the Lombard street shots come out good. How do you get so lucky?
I remember when Mike Kimball, a legendary 1275S owner from some years back, went down Lombard at 1:00 AM, late after one MMW. One Missisppi, Two Mississippi...... He finished in about 15 seconds, with two passengers. The lucky one was in back, braced sideways. Very Italian Job.
