spacer advice
spacer advice
at the risk of being a douche, i was hoping for some quick spacer advice (no i didnt do a search, but have read some about spacers in general. and lets be honest, the search function on nam is terrible to the point where its not really even worth it any more bc there are just too many posts)e
1. i have "aftermarket" rims (cheapos from discount tire) they use hub rings. does this matter?
2. i just wanted to do somethign subtle, like 5mm? is it even worth it, or would something like 10mm be "better"?
3. if i can get away with either 5 or 10mm spacers, think i can safely geta away with the stock bolts for the wheels? these rims use those "tuner" lugs, and id rather not have to mess with getting new ones.
4. will spacers affect the car negatively in any way?
thanks!!!

1. No
2. It depends on the offset of your aftermarket wheels. If they are the same as stock, then spacers may or may not offer any benefit aside from aesthetics (if you're into that kind of thing). If the new wheel offset is greater than stock, then you should use spacers to bring the total wheel offset back to normal.
3. 5mm, yes. 10mm, you're gambling IMHO.
4, Depends. Spacers effect the track width, roll center heights and the scrub radii of the suspension. These will all effect the overall handling of the car and the changes will depend on other suspension modifications. Unless you really know the wonky details of tuning a suspension, the results may or may not not be what you want/expected.
