Inspiration needed on extra guages? Pics Please

How can a car with sporty intentions not have standard gauges such as oil temp, oil pressure and water temp? Post up some pictures of your PODS and gauges as I need some inspiration!!!

Thx

Very nice. Do the back lighting match pretty good? It looks like it.

That's a lotta gauges. lol I was thinking of adding more but was concerned it'd look too cluttered/wouldn't fit. But that one doesn't look bad so might check it out.

Here is a picture of my extra gauge. It is a P3cars gauge that focuses on function over form. It provides ECU data of the following:
Boost
Oil temp
Coolant temp
IAT
EGT
Ignition timing
battery voltage
RPM with customizable shift light
speed
0-60 timer
2 expandable analog ports for manual boost, and other readings

I love it and i get a lot of complements on how hit seems to fit nicely in the car. Picture for reference (sorry for crappy iPhone picture):

What kind of manual boost gauge do you use with that? I couldn't find an upgrade on their website... Maybe I had mobile site issues.

I actually just use the P3Cars its self (OBDII data). There are different schools of thought, but most people agree that a hard wired OBDII reader provides in near real time the actual information in the ECU, just barely different than analog data. P3cars offers a universal boost tap to be used with their display for $30.

http://www.p3cars.com/add-ons-and-ac...-boost-sensor/

As far as the gauge, I ordered it off Ebay for significantly cheaper than P3cars.com. A cheaper option is buying a BT OBDII dongle and using the Torque App with a mounted smartphone, but some have noticed lag associate with BT dongles (I find this hard to believe).

I went with the P3Cars gauge for its aesthetics and its functions, it cost the same as the FJCW added gauges, AEM gauge, or Alta gauges, but provides more functions IMO. I hope this helped.

I looked at the P#Cars and the SG II. Ended up with the SG II because it can display four readings at once.

Just throwing this out there...

Supposedly the latest version of the SGII software for Mini N18 cars can display oil pressure.

I've sent mine out last week for the upgrade. I'll let you guys know what I find.

"Hi Dan,

We believe we have. I’ve been working on an F56 for the past month, and Oil Pressure was a value I was able to gather from it. Since the F56 is the new 3rd generation MINI, I thought the codes would be specific to just 3rd Gen MINI’s. However, we sent a test unit to Way Motorworks, and they found that the Oil Pressure gauge would report when connected to Gen 2 MINI’s with the N18 engine.

If you’d like, I can update your unit with the new firmware that should support oil pressure on your MINI (if it’s an N18). N16’s may also support oil pressure since I’ve heard they have a physical oil pressure sensor, but we’ve yet to verify that through testing.

Let me know if you’re interested in updating your unit. We’ll update it for free.

Regards,

Here are a few pictures of my setup. I have two Marshall gauges, one for temp and the other for oil pressure.

After having the gauges maybe a year or so, I bought a Samsung Galaxy 3, so I bought the Torque app. I have gauges on the Torque app for temp., vacuum/boost, turbo temp., volts, and high pressure fuel rail. You can add other gauges if you have sensors.

As you can see, the gauges match the tach, and with some modifying I was able to get the Torque app to match pretty well too.

The problem with the N14 is that there is no sending unit for oil pressure or oil temperature.

That's pretty nice looking. What is the Aquamist gauge for?
