Chicago area Mini shops

Hello, I just got my mini this week, after a 10 week wait.

Now I want to add some accesories, are there any shops in the Chicago area that cater to minis or recommended by other Mini loyalist?!

Yeah, i noticed that shop too.

I work right next door to the place. I work at the Sidwell Company. Never knew they did that type of work. There is always a Porsche or BMW parked outside. Heh, I see it all the time outside my window.

Charlie, Perfect Power in Libertyville is performance shop that only works on 911's an MINI's. Sol has presented to both the Chicago MINI Motoring Club and just last week was scheduled to speak at the Windy City BMWCCA's second member meeting on MINI's.

The local dealers also are a good source of items and offer discounts to CMMC members.

Happy Motoring!

Jim

Yes it is. I am completely satisfied with Tim's and Brad's work. They did the suspensio also...the rest I've done.

I've had a lot of BMW shop experience in hte Chicago area, having my M5 and being in the club for over 20 years

BTW, We are close to having a custom designed BBK for the Mini that will fit the stock 17 inch wheel and most 16"

It uses either Wilwood FSL or DP calipers and custom designed Rapco rotors. Larger rear rotors are part of the package. Initial tests have been outstanding, giving you that feel that you are going to go through the widshield. No ABS issues to date. I should be putting these on my car within the next week (maybe the same day as the intercooler and will be final testing these the next Windy City BMW autocross and at the next drivers school, which is at Grattan.

They usually try to keep at least one of everything in stock. I would call Brad or Tim at 630-377-3774 for more details

We are putting in Randy Webb's front mount air-to-air intercooler and if they are ready, a custom designed BBK using Wilwood calipers and Rapco 2 piece floating rotors with McLaren style clips. Wil have rotors for the rear also. I'll be testing these at an upcoming autocross and drivers school and if they work as well as initial tests have shown we'll be offering these packages for sale. Probably put the Unichip in that works with the intercooler too, if I haven't had time to do it already.

Sounds great! I'd like to see that FMIC. Does it come with a water spray?
If not, I think Unichip is suppose to offer one in the future.

This year its been overall pretty cool in Chicago, but when you're out in
90F+ temps/humid, that FMIC is really going to come-in handy.

I think Im going to get me some EBC greens in the near future for my
street driving. I am still hesitant to do the 15% reduction pulley...any
negatives associated with that from your experience?

I have had nothing but good experiences with my 15%. I do not feel it is stressing the engine much and it is within the supercharger manufacturers spec and tolerances. There has been tons of discussion on the 19% and I can't really add much more to that except to say that I track and autocross my car so I will stick with the 15%.

I don't think you should be concerned with the 15%.

BTW, the firtst time I had the car on the track, it was not exceptionally hot, around 82, but after 15 minutes I could tell the car was down on power because the stock intercooler couldn't keep up with the increased inlet temps.

Thanks for the info, Bruce. I think the factory top mount will probably
work fine for me since I am only running street... the factory
pulley seems good enough, but the 2nd gear being tall is
kind of a bummer especially after making a left hand turn. So
I am thinking the quicker spool with the 15% would improve
things quite a bit (?). I am assuming this is the case?

Also, am I going to need the IK22's if I do the pulley?

I would really like to see the BBK that you are developing. Maybe we could do it over the weekend.
