NCSExpert one touch sunroof open/close issue

I have a 2008 R56s. When I change "SCHIEBEHEBEDACH_TIPP_HEB/SENK/AUF/ZU" all to aktiv I do not get the result of one touch opening closing like I should.
When it is fully open I still have to hold it to get it to shut BUT instead of shutting all the way it stops about every 4 inches, requiring me to let off the switch and push it again.

I used 51.2 datens

Does anyone know why this is?

I attempted to restore defaults, now NC Expert throws a faulty vin error.

I have a feeling it was an issue with using really old ncs expert/ebiabas with very new datens. Going to update all of my software and try to fix my SHD module in a few days.

Did you get an error thrown on your tach at all? I found usually after doing others and my own that you had to recalibrate the sunroof. There are guides around here on how to do it but basically it this. Hold your sunroof switch in the open position at the very first stop position. This position is typically half of what you usually push it to. Once in that position hold it for about a minute. At this point it will open, close, and open again. Once done, everything should work as expected again.

This sounds really promising, thanks. It did throw a sunroof error image in the tach, I just assumed it was due to a screw up in coding somehow.

It is going to rain for the next few days, so I'm not going to touch it until the weather dries out. Just in case I get the sunroof stuck open, which almost happened a couple days ago when it didn't want to even try to close for a few minutes.

Thanks again, calibration sounds very likely to fix the issue.

I will make sure to post a follow up whether it works or not.

I would say with 99% certainty that is what it is. Its a pretty simple fix, just be sure you are holding the switch in the first forward position and not the full forward position. You have to hold it for nearly a minute before the sunroof moves again so just keep holding it.

Yup, I agree with cgaubuchon - it's because your SHD module wants to be re-initialized to learn the power draw characteristics of your sunroof when it is opening/closing.

Here's the official procedure:
  • Terminal 15 ON (ignition turned on)
  • Press the slide/tilt sunroof switch forwards up to the resistance point towards ”Close” (do not press beyond the resistance point) and hold pressed.
If the slide/tilt sunroof switch is let go during initialisation, the sequence must be repeated.
  • After approx. 15 seconds, the operation starts automatically. The 2 glass sunroofs are raised. The electric motor continues to run until the end stop for the ”Lift” position has been found.
  • Thereafter, the slide/tilt sunroof is opened up to the end stop and closed again.
  • After the slide/tilt sunroof has been closed again and the electric motor has switched off, the slide/tilt sunroof switch can be released. After approx. 2 seconds, required for data storage, the slide/tilt sunroof can be operated again using the slide/tilt sunroof switch.
Good luck!
